Online Speech Resources

| 1 minute read

We all know that public speaking can make even the most extroverted person nervous and uneasy. Preparing a speech and presentation to present to a classroom full of your peers isn’t something that comes naturally to a lot of people, but public speaking is a necessary part of collegiate well-roundedness and professional growth. If you find yourself in the category of people who feel that public speaking does not come naturally to them, USM’s Speaking Center is here for you with their online speech resources!

The Speaking Center is physically located on the first floor of the Cook Library on the Hattiesburg Campus, but they have online speech resources to help online students no matter where you are located. The Speaking Center can help you pick a topic for your presentation, help you outline it, choose visual aids, and help you with your delivery preparation. These resources can help guide you through every step of preparing for a presentation, which can make a four minute speech in front of a class of 30 not seem so scary!

If you need one-on-one help with your presentation, the Speaking Center also offers online appointments! Online students are able to get the amazing one-on-one help that on-campus students receive through video chats with a peer consultant. This online speech resource can really help you focus on any problem area that you might be having with a presentation.

The Speaking Center is eager to help you! Whether you’re on campus or a distance online learner, please feel free to contact them with any questions you might have. You can call them at 601-266-4965 or email them at usm.speakingcenter@gmail.com.
