The spring 2020 semester is approaching sooner than you think! Each semester, you have a list of things to do and paying your tuition bill is one of them!
It sounds easy, right? It is at Southern Miss! Let us help with these three easy steps to paying your tuition and fees:
Step 1: Decide how you are going to pay for classes.
This decision has an impact on the steps you need to complete.
Step 2: Decide if you are going to file the FAFSA.
If you plan on using federal financial aid to pay for your tuition, you need to file your FAFSA by the university’s deadline.
PRO TIP: If you miss the university FAFSA deadline, you will not be able to use financial aid to pay for your tuition and will have to pay for your classes by the deadline.
Step 3: Decide if you need to spread your tuition payment out.
Do you need a payment plan? If so, your payment plan at Southern Miss can be broken into four easy payments, with the first payment due by the university’s deadline.
Remember, you need to be admitted, advised, and enrolled for your classes before you can pay your tuition and fees.
PRO TIP: Find out more information about deadlines and fee payment on the Business Services page https://www.usm.edu/business-services/payment-policy.php
December 1, 2019: Last day to turn in FAFSA documentation (including verification) in order for your financial award to be considered in your payment calculation for spring 2020.
Student Account Payment Schedule | The university requires payment prior to the semester start date of each term. Class schedules for students who fail to meet the payment deadline of January 10, 2020 for the spring 2020 semester will be subject to cancellation. For more information about the university’s student account payment policies and schedule, please contact Business Services at 601.266.4137.
January 10, 2020: Spring 2020 student balance (institutional charges minus anticipated financial aid) must be paid in full or enroll in the payment plan with the first payment being due at enrollment.
Don’t let your classes be dropped!
And one last thing, if you don’t pay your bill according to the university’s deadlines, your classes can be dropped!
