Southern Miss Connections: Find Your Mentor Now!

What do you do if you’re interested in two different career paths? You get as much information as you can, especially when you’re making a decision that can affect the rest of your life. Now, The University of Southern Mississippi is offering you that information like never before with the Southern Miss Connections mentor program!

Southern Miss Connections gives students direct access to successful Golden Eagle alumni, and the best part? You do the pairing. With the “Explore the Community” feature, you can reach out to professionals from different industries who can help you make the right decisions for your future.

“I think the most important aspect of Southern Miss Connections is allowing students direct access to successful Golden Eagle alumni,” says BayLee Long, Assistant Director for Programs and Constituent Relations in the Southern Miss Alumni Association. “The best part about Southern Miss is the people, and this platform allows students to meet incredible Golden Eagles.”

Southern Miss Connections is about more than just getting students on the right track. With a complete set of tools including open-ended message boards and a wide range of professional resources, students can get help from professionals who graduated with the same degree and developed a successful career. Students can even use the platform to find inspiration for involvement with the Southern Miss community.

Long says, “Students are also able to see what organizations and programs alumni were involved in during their time at Southern Miss, which can assist in starting a conversation with an alumnus/alumna. Perhaps it will encourage students to get involved or allow them to gain a new tool set from a specific organization.”

You can even reach out at any point during your collegiate career. If you’re considering double majoring, or just want advice on the job search after graduation, you can post on the discussion board and get answers from mentors who want to help you! No one knows the job community like the professionals. So, let their real-world experience help inform your decision and guide you to your dream job!
