Due to the COVID-19 outbreak causing testing centers to be unaccessible, Southern Miss is waiving many standardized entrance exams for Summer + Fall 2020 applicants. Currently, there are waivers for the GRE, GMAT, PRAXIS, ACT, and more.
The Graduate Admissions office states:
“In an effort to assist prospective students who are dealing with the effects of testing center closures, the Graduate School will be authorizing standardized test waivers (excluding English proficiency exams) to applicants to the Summer 2020 and Fall 2020 terms. Please be aware that applicants to certain programs will not be eligible for the waiver due to accrediting or state and/or federal admission guidelines.” Please visit the Graduate Admissions page for more information.
For information on the PRAXIS for students entering a licensure programs, the College of Education and Human Sciences states:
“Effective immediately, the requirement of a twenty-one (21) on the ACT or passing score on the Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators is suspended for all candidates seeking admission to traditional or non-traditional (alternate route) educator preparation programs on or before December 31, 2021.” Please visit the College of Education and Human Sciences page for more information about admissions requirements.
Once again, please note that each degree’s requirements and waiver options might be different due to federal or state admissions guidelines. We hope this information helps! Please contact us through the form below for more information about your program of interest.
